sour cream cookies anyone?

It's been a long week without an update - sorry folks.

My adopted brother-in-law got married yesterday (beautiful simple wedding at a park) and in the keeping it simple fashion they had much homemade food. I was asked to bring my sour cream cookies and so I spent this week baking and icing and sprinkling 300 sour cream cookies! (200 for the wedding and 100 because my family felt left out).

This recipe is not my own - it is a very traditional recipe and it makes about 100 small ish cookies.

Sour Cream Cookie Recipe

  • 1cup margerine or butter
  • 1 1/2 cups white sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 2 tsps vanilla
  • 1 cup sour cream
cream the above ingredients together.

mix the below ingredients and slowly add to the wet mixture.
  • 3 1/2 cups flour
  • 2 tsps baking powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
you will likely need to add 1 additional cup of flour since the dough is quite sticky. Your dough should be quite soft even with this extra cup of flour.

cover dough with saran wrap and put in the fridge for at least 1hour. then make cookies - be sure to flatten them (approx 1/4 inch thick) and shape them how you want them to look since they do not rise or fall much.

bake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for about 10 minutes - the bottoms should be lightly browned.

Looks deliscious, wondering if they are soft with a fine crumb, melt in your mouth, with cream cheese as a main ingredient. I have been searching for a recipe comparable to the Lofthouse grocery store cookies.

These look delicious. Have you ever tried replacing the sour cream with non-fat plain yogurt? I have been experimenting with yogurt and I wondered if you ever have too? You should come and enter my cookbook giveaway (If you like cookbooks)
