Back to School Sewing!

What's up you ask? Back to school season... All the 15C paper packs make my heart happy. I love buying new pencils and crayons and all the gluesticks.... Though as you know I use gluesticks a LOT when I sew .... and all that cheap tape. Makes a sewist's heart sing. But what strikes fear? Sewing the perfect back to school first day outfit that captures a bit of your kids personality but still looks cute, but not sooooo simple that reads sign me up for sewing felt costumes.

Welcome to my stop on the blog back to school tour! PS - CONTEST and etc at end of post and some AMAZING sale codes!

Today I am showcasing the brand NEW from Little Lizard King Double Scoop dress on my youngest, Cheeks. She is sooo excited to finally be (almost) 4 and heading off to preschool this fall! She loves anything to do with horses and Sheriff Callie.

I absolutely adore the scallop collar option on this pattern, and the scallop pockets are perfect for recess treasures! The pattern has options for all the sleeve lengths (or none) and scallop or plain waistband, plain or no collar as well.

Of course my little goof had to have a Sheriff Callie dress, so waistband skipped because she didnt want Sheriff Callie or Deputey Peck to get blocked. The dress buttons in the back, but I don't anticiate her havign to take it off during the school day, so that is no bother. I did snaps on the back of mine.... I know I know... snaps look cheap etc etc.... BUT they also do not tangle hair like buttons do!

For the second outfit, my oldest, the 1st grader! She LOOOVES Minecraft!!! So I interfaced a knit panel (so it would act like a woven) and pieced together fabric to cut out a Sisboom Tobago!

I added the Sisboom Sophie sleeves - which fit perfectly with just a teensy buit of gathering along the top middle. I also added a elastic casing at the waist and a lightly gathered skirt bottom with strip of fabric and pocket because what 1st grader doesn't want a nice big front pocket?

and now she is all ready to go! Her pocket can fit a notebook and has a narrow pocket sewn in for pencils to go with. The dress is perfect for play and showing off her pretty green eyes and fun gaming personality!

What will you be sewing for back to school?

How fun to have your sweet little girls choose fabric to make dresses! They are both adorable (dresses too!) and I love the scalloped collar!

I LOVE that tobago hack! Especially that big pocket. I will definitely have to try adding the sophie sleeves to the tobago. Adorable!

Hooray for pockets! I didn't put any on my daughters' first day of school dresses, and I wish I had. Oh well, there's always the next round of new outfits for school picture day; I'll try to remember to do pockets then! :)
