Love Bots! A tutorial for you!

you may remember my summer loving flamingo pattern, well in that line of thought I was asked by a friend to make a stuffy that she could put a love note in that her boyfriend wouldn't be embarrassed to pull out of his lunch kit at work in front of the guys.

With school starting this month I think this will be a great 1st day back at school lunch box treat!

Side note: I know my husband will be getting one in his lunch box next week! I love sending a little note and treat in his lunch and try to do so once a week, just to make him feel loved and appreciated. Since I've been doing this our relationship has been much less tense of those rough days and we communicate more. I find that he makes alot more effort with giving me just because kisses and telling me he loves me (not that he was bad at this ever, I've always felt 100% loved - but it's just those little extras that make my day) and planning dates even! (The pink one is for my daughter)

And thus comes thee love bot!
(the one with the apples is my favorite because it reminds me of the fall apples that are just ready to be picked!)

To start with you will need a main fabric for the body, a secondary fabric for the pocket and arms. (you can use cottons, fleece, felt, or a mixture of)

main body cut 2 x  7.75"x 4.75"
pocket cut 1 x 5.25"x4.25"
Face - cute how you want. I did a square or heart and felt bits for the features.
Arms- cut to the length you want - with a bit of a curve. x4

after cutting out your pieces stitch the face bits together and onto the main body.

Then sew the arms - leaving one end open for turning and stuffing. This next picture shows how much of the arm I leave unstuffed . I prefer it if the arms are a bit floppy instead of sticking straight out.

Put your arms inside the bot, along with the ribbon for 'ears'. I cut the grey bot on the fold and so the side bit was left open above the arm. Layering info in the next 2 pics.

To layer, place the pocket right side up on top of the face side of the bot, place the arms inside (as shown) and the ribbon, and then the backside of the bot right side down (see next pic)

You will sew around, then turn out, stuff, and lastly blind stitch that opening closed.

The finished bots!

The pocket is just big enough to add a sweet treat in with the love note!

(this last pic is my 1st attempt - the idea was there and while they are cute they weren't quite what I had in mind and so happy I re-did them!)

Enjoy!
